What is Model U.N?

Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, current events, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. Typically in Model UN, a student steps into the role of a diplomatic ambassador to participate in a simulated session of a United Nations international committee.

At a standard Model UN conference, several committees are available for choosing by participating students, including the UN Security Council [UNSC], the World Health Organization [WHO] and many more. Over 400 of these conferences are held in over 40 countries in the world, making it one of the most internationally recognized of student extra-curricular activities.

Committing time and effort into a Model U.N conference is a skill building experience, one that promises to hone public speaking abilities, and encourage students to engage in a problem solving method that can only be found in the U.N.
